I was in google finance and I noticed that they paid a dividend today of 0.0 cents which means they didn't pay one. Does anybody know if this is common or ifmaybe they will pay the regular dividend soon?

I was in google finance and I noticed that they paid a dividend today of 0.0 cents which means they didn't pay one. Does anybody know if this is common or ifmaybe they will pay the regular dividend soon?
http://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE:VZ- Verizon has not announced a dividend yet for this quarter. The last ex-dividend date was in April, so the announcement should be soon. It would be really surprising not to pay a dividend at all; on the other hand, a 7% dividend is very high. I would probably expect a lower dividend this quarter with some sort of announcement that it is a one-time event.
- The dividend declare date is 7/9/2010, which is the day forward that you are not entitled to get the next dividend which is to be paid on 8/2/2010. This is done every quarter unless the company chooses to pay no dividend which they can do at any time.(See BP).. Verizon has a history of paying their dividends regularly.
- Because no dividend was DUE to be paid today. It pays the dividend once per quarter, but not on the first day of the quarter.
