Holiday Inn vs. Citibank. Whose a*s should I stay on?

The background info is as follows. I have a credit card with Citi ($3000 credit limit) which as of right now has a balance of just under $700 (so there is plenty of space on the card relatively speaking). I am currently staying at a Holiday Inn hotel 10 hours away from home, and there is an issue. Apparently when I checked in, an issue happened with Holiday's system and after a few days, there was an authorization from HI for almost $25,000 (not a charge...just an authorization that affects the credit line). So now I'm 10 hours driving time from home, and the only money I have access too here is this card, and I cannot use it because between these two organizations, there is a ludicrous charge that nobody seems to want to remove that is freezing my card up. How the hell was my card authorized for that ridiculously high amount of money and who is to blame? Should I tear up my Citi card upon returning, vow to never stay at a Holiday Inn ever again? Both? Who is at fault here because clearly I have done nothing wrong. Right? And in addition besides complaining and whining and begging these companies to fix the issue, what else can I do?
